The driver returned because the west sign said ANNEX and the printed instructions said ANNEXE. He was assured that the extra letter had not been built.
The crate was carried through the west gate, across the covered passage, and into the room with two opposing doorways. Nothing was delivered to the greenhouse. The greenhouse keeps appearing in later descriptions because it was easier to photograph.
The gatekeeper asked whether the sockets were for microphones. He was told they were for deciding which microphone had heard which room. He recorded “microphones” and went back to the gate.
